In Valmarecchia and Montefeltro the Franciscan presence is very ancient and many villages are linked to great characters in history born from the charisma of Francis, who were born here. In particular we remember Fra' Matteo da Bascio, inspirer of the Capuchin Order and Fra' Orazio Olivieri da Pennabilli, a missionary in Tibet in the 18th century, still remembered and esteemed by the Tibetan Buddhist world today.
Together with the inhabitants you will also discover beautiful and authentic places; ancient villages with a significant history, such as Pennabilli, seat of the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro and Badia Tedalda, an important medieval center connected to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

On the Pennabilli – Badia Tedalda stage the road between Cà Romano and Bascio is interrupted. It is necessary to make the following detour: from Cà Romano, after crossing the bridge over the stream, proceed straight on the asphalt road until the T-junction where on the left you reach the village of Miratoio. At the T-junction, turn right and go down the asphalt road to the village of Poggio di Bascio where you rejoin the original route. The GPS track of the detour.
The route from Badia Tedalda to the Viamaggio Pass was affected by construction sites for the construction of a methane pipeline, with interruptions on various sections. Subsequently the paths were only partially restored, as was the related signage. We therefore recommend that you use the public transport service from Badia to Passo di Viamaggio until the route has been completely restored.
